Mindful Eating with Chocolate

Join Us for an exciting and unique 6-week course on Meditation and Chocolate!  The workshop consists of six weekly, 2 hour sessions, along with a 3 hour closing dinner. Each weekly class offers a lively blend of instruction, group discussion, meditation practice and class exercises – all in a supportive and nourishing environment.  Each session will conclude with a chocolate care package to be used during the week based on techniques learned in the session.


The first five sessions will be an exploration of Chocolate and deconstructing its parts and understanding the experience of eating — and enjoying — cacao.  This will lead up to the final session of a multisensory Chocolate dinner course where participants will use all the senses (sight, smell, sound, touch, taste) and meditation techniques learned in the 5 previous courses.  The dinner will be focused on Chocolate presented in sweet and savory dishes that will strengthen the message that "Chocolate is Food, not confection or candy".  The final session will also reinforce mindfulness techniques that can be used during moments of gathering with others whether it be in a situation of eating, camaraderie, moments of stillness or understanding what it means to be present.

All sessions will be led by cacao expert Patricia Tsai, owner of ChocoVivo and Susan Lopez, UCLA Mindfulness Coach.

Oct 11: Session 1: Reconnecting with our Body & Food | Cacao Bean - Sight

Oct 18: Session 2: Working Skillfully with Thoughts | Cacao Nibs - Smell

Oct 25: Session 3: Working with our Emotions | Cacao Shells - Sound

Nov 1: Session 4: Working with Obstacles to Presence and Compassion | Cacao Butter - Touch

Nov 8: Session 5: Equanimity and Balance in our Lives | Chocolate Bar - Taste

Nov 15: Session 6: Closing:  Cacao Meditation Dinner

Each session will conclude with a chocolate care package to be used during the week based on techniques learned in the session.

Mindfulness is a quality of attention and receptivity to our present moment experiences. So many of us are caught up racing from one thing to the next, carrying ever growing to-do lists, dealing with stress, and living in complete disconnection from our bodies.
